PAST SIMPLE AND PAST CONTINUOUS

Hello!

I'm going to explain the difference between Past Simple and Past Continuous...

1. WHILE...this word means "mientras" and is followed by Past Continuous...
While I was working, my brother was sleeping.

2. Clock Time... We use the Past Continuous.
They were writing a letter at 7.50.

3. WHEN...this word means "cuando" and is followed by Past Simple...
I was watching TV when my mum opened the door.

3. Sometimes we don't have tips and it is difficult to decide between Past Continuous or Past Simple. Then we have to look at the verb...

Short Action verbs ( close, open, start, finish, end, arrive, come, see, hear, knock, fall...) These verbs go in Past Simple.
We opened the book when the teacher got angry.

Long Action verbs ( listen, sleep, study, read, write, watch, eat, walk, run...) These verbs go in Past Continuous.
We were listening to the music for two hours.

REVIEW EXAM UNIT 4 ( 2º ESO )

Hi,
Here are the tips for the exam next Monday 27th January.

Vocabulary: There are sentences to translate:
Study the text from pages 44 and 47 Student's book.
Page 36, text about Story telling in your Workbook.

Grammar:
 1. Activities about Past Simple (Time for Yesterday) Affirmative, Negative and Interrogative. The most important irregular verbs you have to study are:

BE / BEGIN / BREAK / BRING / BUY / COME / DO / DRAW / EAT / DRIVE / FIND / GET / GIVE / GO / HAVE / KNOW / LEARN / MAKE / LEAVE / MEET / RUN / SAY / SEE / SEND / SIT / SLEEP / SPEAK / TAKE / THINK / WEAR / WRITE.

 2. Activities to correct mistakes.

 3. Activities to make circles in the correct option. Including Present Simple, Continuous, to have, to be, muich, many.....

Writing:
 1. Write a book or film review. Use 50 words at least.

 2. Complete sentences using: so, but, because, and, or.....

Listening and Writing.

REVIEW UNIT 4 ( 3ºESO EXAM)

Hello! for Monday's exam, you will need to study the following items very carefully:

Vocabulary:
there are sentences to translate from the following texts:
About Lake Como (p.49), A Run Around the World (p. 47), A Young Girl's Story ( p.44)

Grammar:
Revise the Past Simple (Affirmative, Negative and Interrogative), Revise Present Simple and Continuous; there will be an activity to fill gaps. You will have to know the difference between these two tenses.

Then you will find an activity to circle the correct answer. You will find much/many, comparatives, etc..

Finally, an exercise about There was/ There were.

The most important irregular verbs are: BE / BEGIN / BREAK / BRING / BUY / COME / DO / DRAW / EAT / DRIVE / FIND / GET / GIVE / GO / HAVE / KNOW / LEARN / MAKE / LEAVE / MEET / RUN / SAY / SEE / SEND / SIT / SLEEP / SPEAK / TAKE / THINK / WEAR / WRITE.

Writing: 

1. The descrription of a place. 60 words minimum, using Past Simple...including the information in the writing of Unit 4. (Opening sentnece, body and concluding sentence)

2. Probably a writing describing your favourite sport. 60 words minimum. It 's Unit 3 writing. You have to include an opening sentence, body and concluding sentence as well.

Listening and Reading.

Last Days of Term....

Hiya kids!!

It's about to finish... But it doesn't mean you have to be sad, you know...haha Well I remind you that next week is Tu Si Que Vales Show. Please if you want to perform, you have up to Monday 16 of December to sign. It is also Christmas time, so I will lave you one of my favourite carols for you to enjoy.

It's so cold!

Twitter for English? LOL!!

Hiya!
Well.... yes.... it' is very cold outside and  one doesn't feel like moving from the sofa...does one? haha
In fact, it's freezing...but I'm not here just to post the weather report; the reason I made up my mind to write is: first...to congratulate my students from 2nd and 3rd ESO for the great marks in the exams of unit 1!

I can't wait to correct the test for unit 2 ( I hope you don't disappoint me!)... and second: I'm thinking of making a twitter account for our English subject...! What do you think? Let me develop the idea...I will surprise you!

Before I forget, I will tell you about creating a Youtube Channel...I sent a mail to a friend of mine, so that he can explain the use he makes of it in his English lessons...I'm sure we will have a great time...trust!
